There is a way in which the Bible not only condones slavery, but absolutely requires it. It is not in the way anti-Christian activists would have us believe, neither is it what pops into most of our minds when we hear the word.
But make no mistake: to be a Christian is to be a slave.
“Slavery” is a loaded term in the 21st century West. It is a massively weighty issue, one that demands our utmost consideration and seriousness.
So what are we to make of the charge that the Bible condones slavery?
There is only one thing that can bear the weight of ultimacy in your life. All others will fail you. And in failing you, they will cause you to fail, as well.
