About the Blog

This blog operates according to a working thesis that all Christian men as sons of God and servants of Christ are called to a dualistic purpose in both life and ministry - we are called to be Warrior Priests.

The Warrior
Warriors train, prepare, study, and arm themselves in order to engage and defeat the enemies of their master. Since the Bible is clear in its use of wartime language and metaphor in order to describe the state of our spiritual reality in this life, it is imperative that Christian men recognize the role they have to play in the battle against the forces of darkness. Of course, in order to effectively fight a war, you have to properly identify both your enemy and your mission. The Bible does both for us.

For the warrior, his enemy is spiritual, not physical, and his mission is an assault on the things that seek to assail and enslave both him and those within the Body of Christ.

[B]e strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm -  Ephesians 6:10-13

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.  We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. - II Corinthians 10:3-5

This charge I entrust to you... in accordance with the prophecies previously made about you, that by them you may wage the good warfare, holding faith and a good conscience. By rejecting this, some have made shipwreck of their faith... - I Timothy 1:18-19

The battlefield of this spiritual warfare is primarily one of the mind. What we think and why forms the foundational basis of our worldview and our spiritual life. Consequently, our minds must be refined, strengthened, and educated by the Spirit of God – prepared for war by the One who recruited us into the ranks.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. – Romans 12:2

Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds… put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and [be] renewed in the spirit of your minds, and [put] on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. – Ephesians 4:17, 22-24

…put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.
– Colossians 3:10

The Priest
Priests talk to men about God and talk to God about men. In addition to making war on the ideas, philosophies, and lies perpetuated within a rebellious world, the Christian man embraces his calling as an emissary of God, inviting and entreating other people to repent and be saved according to Christ’s gospel.

Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade others.  All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. – II Corinthians 5:11, 18-21

Working together with Him, then, we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For He says, “In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation. We put no obstacle in anyone's way, so that no fault may be found with our ministry, - II Corinthians 6:1-3

And the master said to the servant, ‘Go out to the highways and hedges and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled.' – Luke 14:23
